Everything I Need (10/10)

Chapter 10

Nebraska
The Roadhouse
(14-Weeks)

Jo’s feet were killing her. She glanced around the bar and spotted Madison laughing at something one of the hunters said to her. Last night had been the night after the full moon. They had kept Madison locked up in the basement. Jo felt bad about it, but Madison had understood.

Ellen came up behind her daughter, nudged her and handed her a tray.

“Table five.”

Jo sighed and nodded. She passed Bobby on the way to the table. He nodded and gave her a small smile. She grinned back before making her way to table five. She bent down slightly to place their drinks down.

“Here ya boys go. Can I getcha anythin’ else?”

One of the younger hunters sitting down leered at her and glanced down her shirt. His friends chuckled.

“You sure can darlin’ how’s about you and me go back to my motel and I show you exactly what you can get me?”

Jo was rolling her eyes on the inside, but she gave the guy a tight smile before standing up straight.

“Thanks, but I’m not interested.”

She turned and his friend grabbed her wrist. She twisted her body back around and the grip on her wrist tightened. She could feel her anger boiling to the surface. She glanced down at the hand on her wrist and then looked back up. She met his eyes and her voice was calm when she spoke.

“Get…your hand…off me. Now…”

They laughed and the hunter who had spoken earlier leaned over and grabbed her ass.

“Listen bitch…”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence though. Jo’s fist connected with his jaw and he fell off his chair and onto the floor. Everything around them stopped as people heard the crash. The older hunters who had known Jo and Ellen for years chuckled lightly.

The guy on the floor rubbed his jaw and glared at Jo. She gave him a large grin.

“Hey I asked nicely buddy…see what happens when you don’t play nice?”

He grunted and stood.

“I’ll give you nice.”

He advanced on her as his friends stood and surrounded her. Several hunters in the bar stood including Bobby, but before anyone could say anything the doors to the Roadhouse swung open and Sam and Dean walked in. They frowned and then Dean noticed Jo standing in front of some guy, surrounded by his friends.

His jaw tensed. Was this guy kidding? Who the hell does he think he is? The guy took a step towards Jo and that’s all it took. Dean held up the pastry box for Sam to take. Sam sighed, took the box and watched as Dean made his way towards them.

Sam shook his head. This wasn’t going to be good. When he and Dean walked in all eyes moved from Jo to them and now they were watching Dean carefully. He shifted, and tried to see if he could find Madison through the throng of people.

Dean pushed through two of the guys and saw Jo standing their hands on her hips glaring at the hunter in front of her. There was blood running down his nose and he looked ready for a fight. Jo turned her head and caught a glimpse of Dean.

Her voice was light and there was a smirk on her face.

“Hey there Deano…how was your trip?”

“My trip was long…Really Jo? This is your idea of staying out of trouble?”

She pointed to the guy in front of her.

“He grabbed my ass…leering douche bag…”

Dean raised an eyebrow and turned to the kid in question

“Dude…did you grab her ass?”

He glared at Dean.

“Whats it to ya?”

Dean shrugged.

“I’m trying to figure out if I need to kick your ass or if I should let my pregnant girlfriend do it. It might make her feel better and shit I’m all about her being in a good mood…Cause I don’t get any when she’s cranky…”

A murmur started throughout the bar and Dean new it was a mistake to say that, but people were going to figure it out sooner or later. Hell Meg already knew. She was the one who told Jo…Jo nodded.

“It’s true he doesn’t. As a matter of fact he’s currently leaning in that direction now.”

She sent a mild glare Dean’s way and he lifted his hands palms up. The young hunter nodded to one of his friends and the tall man made a step towards Jo. Before the guy knew what was happening Dean had his gun cocked and pointed under the guys chin.

The guy’s eyes widened and he shot a frantic look at Dean.

“You even attempt to go near her and I’ll scatter your brains across the bar. Got it hot shot?”

“G…ggot it.”

Dean nodded.

“I thought you might.”

It was taking every ounce of willpower inside Dean to not knock all these douche bags out. He took a deep breath and glanced at Jo.

“You can handle this?”

Jo nodded. Dean hesitated for a minute before nodding back and talking with his gunned hand.

“Okay…everyone give the woman some room. Dude I said back the frig up…I’m tired, cranky, and I haven’t eaten in close to seven hours. I’m walkin a real thin line…”

Jo chuckled.

“Oh my god…Sam didn’t feed you? I’m gonna have to talk to him about that. Doesn’t he know you can’t focus unless you eat every hour?”

Dean looked at Sam and glared as he nodded his head.

“I know right? I tried to tell him…”

The hunters standing around weren’t sure whether to laugh or frown so they just settled for watching. By now the only two people left standing were Jo and the guy who grabbed her ass. Dean pulled up a chair and motioned toward Jo before sitting in it.

“Well have at it Sweetheart.”

She grinned and the guy chose that moment to swing forward with a punch. Jo blocked it and caught him with an upper cut. He stumbled, but came back at her. She sidestepped him and he grabbed a chair. Dean stood and was about to call out to her when she shifted and he tossed the chair into the table.

She kicked the back of his knee out and he stumbled, fell into the table, and it crashed to the ground. Dean swallowed hard.

“Okay you’ve sufficiently kicked his ass… just toss him out of here Jo.”

She pouted slightly.

“But…”

He made a face and pointed to her stomach.

“The kids tired.”

Jo glanced down and it was in that moment she remembered she wasn’t alone. She straightened up and winced slightly. Dean was at her side in a second as Sam and Bobby cleared the guys out of the bar. Ellen walked over and people started getting back to their own conversations.

Ellen glared slightly at Dean.

“You sure do like to make an entrance don’t you?”

He shrugged and turned back to Jo. He reached around and rubbed her back lightly.

“That kick knock somthin’ outta place?”

“Nah…I’m good. Back just hurts a little.”

Sam came over with Bobby and not a minute later Madison was hurtling herself into Sam’s arms. He caught her and chuckled before she leaned in and captured his lips in a steamy kiss. When they broke apart he grinned.

“If you’re gonna greet me like that every time I come back I may leave more often.”

She slapped him gently.

“Don’t you dare.”

He cupped her face and kissed her again lightly. Dean grunted.

“Dude…move…come on dog girl you’re crushing the pie.”

Jo and Ellen’s mouths dropped and they gave him a shocked look. Bobby shook his head in disapproval as Jo finally snapped out of it and punched him in the arm. He frowned.

“Owe Jo…what the hell.”

She glared at him.

“Don’t you ever call Madison that again. It’s just cruel Dean and…”

Her voice trailed off and everyone gave her a worried look. The anger left her face and was replaced by confusion. She raised an eyebrow and met Dean’s eyes.

“Wait a minute…did you say she was crushing pie?”

Dean smirked.

“We stopped in San Francisco….so I could pick you up some pie…it’s what took so damn long.”

Jo grinned.

“Where’s my pie?”

Sam shifted and handed it to Dean. He took it and held it out to Jo. She went to take it, but he moved it out of her reach.

“The deal is you have to share.”

“But there’s six of us that’s not enough pie!”

Dean snorted.

“Not with them, with me. They don’t need pie. I need pie…and the kid needs pie…they…”

He pointed at Bobby, Ellen, Sam and Madison.

“Don’t need pie.”

Jo smiled.

“Aww princess you got yourself a deal.”

She glanced at her mom.

“My back is killing me…I’m done for the night.”

Ellen sighed, but nodded.

Dean followed behind Jo as they moved to the back of the Roadhouse. Bobby and Ellen shook their heads as they over heard Dean talking about being a P.A. at the studio. Jo’s laugh floated through the room before they disappeared.

Sam turned to Bobby and Ellen and the look on his face sobered quickly. He moved forward to exam some of the scratches and scrapes on Ellen.

“I’m so sorry about this Ellen.”

She nodded.

“I know sweetie. When everyone leaves tonight we’ll come up with a game plan on how to deal with everything.”

Sam nodded as she motioned for them to follow Jo and Dean.

“Go…I can handle things out here.”

Madison frowned.

“You sure?”

Ellen nodded.

“Things are slowing down.”

They nodded and Sam put his arm around Madison as they made their way into the back. Bobby took a swig of his beer and shook his head.

“Those kids…”

“Tell me about it.”

A half hour later Dean was sitting on Jo’s bed watching TV. The pie box was open and sitting on his lap. He glanced over at Jo who had her head against his shoulder and fork in hand. She was out cold. He reached over and gently took the fork from her before putting it in the pie box and closing it up.

He shifted carefully so he could reach over and put the pie box on the night stand. When he leaned back against the headboard Jo groaned slightly and mumbled at him to ‘stop moving’ he grinned and shook his head as he clicked through the stations.

Nothing but infomercials and old movies. He sighed and took a minute to glance around her room. He’d never really taken the time to look at it before. It wasn’t at all what he expected. It was sparse…and the things it did contain were gender neutral.

The only thing that gave away that she was a girl was a small pink bear in the corner of the room on a bookshelf, but even the pink bear was wielding a badass gun. He shook his head. That’s his Jo…He looked down at her and brushed some hair away from her face.

She was beautiful and she’d gotten bigger since he’d left. Not much, but enough for him to notice. He rubbed his sleep addled eyes and slid further down on the bed until his head hit the pillow. Jo moved against him and he wrapped an arm around her.

He frowned to himself slightly. Holding Jo was weird…it was a foreign concept to him. Sleeping with another person in the bed is something he never thought he’d get used to. It’s just one of those things you never think about.

Having a warm body cuddled up next to him was weird…but the weirdest thing of all was how it didn’t feel weird anymore. He knew it should, but he was comforted by her presence. He hadn’t slept well while they were in California…and he realized it was because he had gotten used to her warm body in bed with him.

He ran a hand through his hair before letting out a long groan and closing his eyes. Dean Winchester was a badass hunter. He never let anyone under his skin, he didn’t take no for an answer, he killed all kinds of supernatural beings on an almost daily basis, and yet here he was…falling hard and cuddling with…a girl.

God help him he was turning into a huge bitch, but right now he was tired…and warm. So he’d worry about his immanent loss of manhood in the morning…hell things always seemed better in the morning…right?
