Verse: This is a drabble in my ‘Happy Endings’ Verse
The small room was quiet save for the buzzing of the florescent lights. The plastic chair under his back was uncomfortable, but as he gazed at the small pink bundle in his arms he couldn’t bring himself to care. Jo had been in labor for close to a day before their daughter had finally decided to grace them with her presence.
It figured she’d take her sweet ass time, she was after all a Winchester. When the doctor held her up and asked Dean if he wanted to cut the cord he’d cried. It wasn’t the type of thing he did in front of strangers, hell it wasn’t something his did in front of family or friends either.
But when he looked into the screaming face of his baby girl, warmth had filled him. He had a future, a legacy, a family. He couldn’t help the emotions that overwhelmed him in that moment. The exhilaration, fear, and pure happiness that burst inside his chest.
Dean never thought he’d be one of those guys, the soft and bitch-like ones, but he was wrong. He’d melted and completely thawed when they placed her in his arms and he glanced between his two girls. All the fights, everyone they’d lost, the apocalypse…
He’d do it all again if it got him to this moment. Dean let out a content sigh, leaned back in the chair, his eyes drifting toward his sleeping wife. She gave this to him. A reason to keep on fighting, to not give up.
The hope of a brighter future and now he’d spend the rest of his life making sure she knew just how much that meant to him.
