Jo bit her lip as she sat on the toilet glancing at her watch every couple of seconds. She sighed. How long was three minutes anyway? She stood up and walked the length of the bathroom twice before a loud pounding on the door made her jump.

“What the hell are you doing in there Jo?”

“Obviously I’m using the bathroom Dean. What else would I be doing in here?”

She heard him grunt and then swear.

“Ouch. Shit. Well what’s takin so long Jesus…and you’ve gotta stop leaving that stupid box of knives around I keep tripping on it.

She grinned and shook her head.

“Or maybe you should look where you’re going?”

Dean was ridiculous. It had taken him a while to get used to her being on the road with them, but after about half a year they’d finally settled into an easy rhythm with each other. Sometimes she still couldn’t believe she’d been on the road for three years.

Some days it felt longer and other’s it felt like the first day. She looked down at her watch and rubbed her hands together before moving back towards the counter. Jo took a deep breath and glanced down at the small plastic stick.

Her heart sped up as a smile lit up her face. She let out a small yelp and as she turned to leave the bathroom, stick in hand the door burst open. Dean stood there shotgun in hand. Jo raised an eyebrow and slipped her hand behind her back.

“Uhh Dean…”

“Yeah,”

“Whatcha doin?”

He glanced around the bathroom; frown on his face as he lowered his gun.

“I heard you scream.”

She gave him a sheepish look.

“Oh…oops.”

Dean gave her an incredulous look.

“Oops? Where in the middle of an apocalypse Jo you don’t just go around screaming for no reason. I swear,”

Gun still in hand, he pointed at her.

“There is somthin seriously wrong with you.”

He moved out of the bathroom, Jo following on his heels a slight bounce in her step.

“Where’s Sammy?”

“Still out getting food.”

Dean went back to cleaning and organizing their weapons as Jo plopped onto the motel room bed and let out a heavy sigh. Ten minutes later Sam walked through the door bags in hand. He smiled and a look of relief crossed Dean’s face.

“Thank god you’re back, do you know that your girlfriend is possibly the most annoying female I’ve ever met and you know from me…that’s saying something.”

Sam chuckled and glanced at Jo who sent a glare Dean’s way.

“I’m sorry if I’m not one of the many women falling at the feet of the great Dean Winchester.”

“Apology not accepted.”

Sam rolled his eyes and moved between them.

“Alright you two cut it out. I swear you are like five year olds. What am I gonna do with you guys?”

Jo smirked and pushed up so she was kneeling on the bed.

“I don’t know about the overgrown man child over there, but I got a few ideas of what you can do with me.”

She winked, Sam grinned, and Dean snorted.

“Keep the ideas to yourself sweetheart, some of us don’t want to hear them.”

Jo turned her eyes on Dean.

“Then leave, I need to talk to Sam anyway, it’s important.”

The smile slid off Sam’s face and was replaced by worry.

“Everything okay?”

She nodded as she stood.

“Yeah, I just…I need to talk to you.”

Sam turned to Dean who let out a frustrated sigh before standing up, grabbing his keys and jacket, and slamming the door behind him. She swallowed hard and cleared her throat.

“Okay you might want to sit down.”

Sam’s brow creased in confusion, but he sat on the edge of the bed. Jo moved her hand out from behind her back and showed him the small stick. Confusion filled his face for about five seconds before his eyes widened and his head shot up.

“Is that?”

“Yes.”

“Are you?”

“Yea…”

Sam sat there completely floored. Jo, his Jo was pregnant with his baby. They were going to be parents, have their own family. When he didn’t respond right away Jo’s stomach sank. She never considered that he might not want a baby.

She licked her lips eyes falling to the floor as she spoke quickly, voice soft.

“I know we didn’t’ plan this and I know with Lucifer and the apocalypse this is probably a really bad time…”

He glanced up when he heard her start talking again and he could see the tension in her body. He was an idiot. There he was sitting there not saying anything most likely freaking her out. Sam smiled, voice gentle.

“Hey,”

Jo looked up and he caught her eyes.

“I think this is a perfect time.”

She blinked a few times before confusion settled on her face.

“You do?”

Sam chuckled and stood caressing her cheek lightly.

“Yeah, I do. With everything that’s going on it’s nice to finally have some good news. That doesn’t mean I’m not worried and that things around here aren’t going to have to change, but my god Jo…we’re gonna have a baby.”

She beamed at the awe in his voice as he pulled her tighter against him.

“I know…it’s unreal.”

He nodded before capturing her lips with his. She moaned into his mouth and when he pulled away and leaned his forehead against hers she let out a content sigh. He placed a chaste kiss on her head as he continued to hold her, voice light.

“If I haven’t mentioned it lately, I love you.”

She relaxed against him.

“I love you too Sammy.”
